Do you struggle with site speed despite using
a quality host and a clean, lightweight theme? Are your SEO rankings not as
high as you feel they should be?

What you need is a quality caching plugin
that’ll generate a static version of your site to serve to visitors rather than
having each one load the entirety of your site every time.

In this post, we’re going to cover seven of
the best caching plugins for WordPress.

The best WordPress caching plugins to speed up your website

  1. WP Rocket – Best all round WordPress caching plugin.
  2. Cache Enabler – A simple caching plugin that is easy to use.
  3. Breeze – Simple free caching plugin maintained by Cloudways.
  4. WP Fastest Cache – A well featured caching plugin.
  5. Comet Cache – Freemium caching plugin with a solid feature set.

WP Rocket is a premium WordPress caching plugin that offers a large collection of site optimization features. It’s used on over 1 million websites, and some of its customers include SeedProd, ThemeIsle, MainWP, Beaver Builder, CoSchedule and Codeable.

Its code is clean, commented and filled with
hooks, making it an ideal option for developers. WordPress multisite is also
supported.

Features:

  • Page Caching – Caching is enabled in the plugin by default and is its most essential functionality for improving site speed. Cart and checkout pages generated by ecommerce plugins are excluded.
  • Browser Caching – WP Rocket stores static CSS and JS-based content in your visitor’s browser for quicker load times when they visit additional pages on your site.
  • Cache Preloading – Simulates a visit and preloads the cache after each clearing to speed things up when search engine bots crawl your website. You can also enable DNS prefetching by preloading DNS resolutions from external domains.
  • Sitemap Preloading  – Sitemaps generated by Yoast, All-in-One SEO and Jetpack are detected automatically, and URL’s from sitemaps are preloaded.
  • Delay of JavaScript execution – Similar to lazy loading images but for Javascript instead. Will result in huge performance gains and improvement in mobile PageSpeed scores.
  • File Optimization – Minification for HTML, CSS and JS files is available as is Gzip compression. Query strings are also removed from CSS and JS files to improve performance grades in website performance tools like Pingdom, GTmetrix and Google PageSpeed Insights. You can also defer JS files.
  • Image Optimization – Lazy load images on your site so they’re only loaded when visitors scroll where they’re displayed.
  • Database Optimization – Clean up your site’s database on the fly, and schedule regular cleanings to keep things running smooth automatically.
  • Google Fonts Optimization – WP Rocket improves performance grades by combining HTTP requests, including those made by Google Fonts, into groups.

The vast majority of W3 Total Cache’s settings are included in the free version, which you can download directly from WordPress.org. W3 Total Cache Pro costs $99/year and includes fragment caching along with access to W3 Total Cache’s extension framework, two features meant to entice advanced users and developers.

7. WP Super Cache

wp super cache wordpress plugin

WP Super Cache is a popular WordPress caching plugin officially developed and maintained by Automattic themselves. It’s a free and simple caching plugin you can activate and leave as is, but it also has numerous settings you can configure to your liking.

Features:

  • Page Caching – This plugin caches your site by
generating different static HTML files (or cached versions of your site) based
on a user’s actions. These include whether or not they’re logged in and whether
or not they’ve commented recently. There are also three different forms of
caching you can choose from to control the way the plugin caches your site. It
ranges from a simple “set-it-and-forget” mode to a more technical
version that enables PHP editing for developers.
  • Cache Preloading – Preload a cached version of
your site in regular intervals (after the cache is cleared) to prevent search engine
bots or visitors from bearing the brunt by generating new files.
  • CDN Integration – WP Super Cache allows you to
serve cached versions of your site’s HTML, CSS and JS files through your choice
of CDN service fo better performance.
  • .htaccess Optimization – This plugin updates
your site’s .htaccess file. It recommends creating a backup of it prior to
    installation.

WP Super Cache is a free WordPress caching
plugin available for download from the official WordPress plugin directory.

How to choose the best WordPress caching plugin for your site

Choosing a caching plugin for your site can be
difficult. They’ll only conflict with one another if you use two or more at
once, and they each offer similar features in different ways. Plus, caching is
a highly technical topic, which can make it even more difficult to determine
which option to go with.

Check with your host first. They may implement
caching for you at the server level. Some even limit the types of plugins you
can install. Kinsta, for instance, disallows all caching plugins except WP
Rocket on its servers. It disables WP Rocket’s caching functionality by default
but allows you to use its other features.

You should also ensure the plugin has starting and renewal rates that match your budget.

For most sites, WP Rocket will be the most ideal considering it has advanced features that help Google’s Web Core Vitals and can result in significant performance gains.

If you want a free WordPress caching plugin, we recommend taking a look at Cache Enabler first because of how simple it is to use.

Because site speed is so imperative for SEO
and user experience, it’s best to choose a plugin that offers several different
ways for you to optimize your site. These plugins include solutions like WP
Rocket, WP Fastest Cache and Comet Cache.

A solid support ticket system in WordPress can help you provide the customer service consumers have come to love and expect from online businesses.

But can a free support ticket plugin really give you what you need? We think so. Today we’re going to show you how to create a free support ticket system in WordPress.

So, what are you waiting for? Keep reading!

Why create a support ticket system in WordPress?

You might be asking yourself why a support ticket system in WordPress is needed. After all, you have a clear contact form on your website or a business email people can use right? Well, there happen to be a lot of great reasons a support ticket system can help growing online businesses do better:

  • Handle multiple inquiries faster and more effectively
  • Direct support requests to the right person or department
  • Keep support inquiries organized and in one convenient location

Lastly, with a good support system in place, you can glean important information about what your customers need and want from you and your business and make data-driven decisions that will not only help your business grow, but will result in more satisfied customers that prefer you over the competition.

So, let’s create a free support ticket system in WordPress.

How to create a free ticket support system in WordPress

If you’re wanting to create a ticket support system for your WordPress site, without spending a dime, we recommend using the WordPress HelpDesk & Support Plugin by Awesome Support.

wordpress helpdesk and support plugin

This free plugin is very user-friendly and comes with features like support ticketing, email notifications, multiple department assignment, data tracking, and much more. Plus, it’s WooCommerce compatible, meaning you can add a support ticket system to your online store with ease.

Let’s see how you can use it to get a support ticket system up and running in minutes.

Step 1: Install and activate WordPress Helpdesk & Support Plugin

To install and activate WordPress HelpDesk & Support Plugin on your WordPress website, go to Plugins > Add New in your WordPress dashboard.

Search for ‘WordPress HelpDesk & Support Plugin’ and click Install Now.

install and activate wordpress helpdesk and support plugin

Then, click Activate so the plugin will be ready for use.

Step 2: Launch the Setup Wizard

Once you activate the WordPress Helpdesk & Support Plugin, you’ll see a setup wizard that will help guide you through the setup process. You have the option to skip this if you want.

support system setup wizard

The first screen of the setup wizard welcomes you and asks you if you want to turn on support for multiple products.

setup wizard welcome

If you have an online shop with multiple products, you might want to turn this feature on so customers can specify which product they need help with. If you don’t, then select No and then Continue.

WordPress Helpdesk & Support Plugin creates a new page on your site that customers can access when they want to submit a support ticket. However, this page needs to be added to one of your menus too so people can access it easily.

suport ticket menu placement

Select the menu you’d like to add your support ticket system to and click Continue.

Next, you’ll need to choose a menu to place your existing tickets page to. Again, choose your placement and click Continue.

ticket menu placement

This makes it easy for customers to see the support tickets they’ve submitted.

Keep in mind, if you don’t want these items added to your site’s menus, or you want to change their locations, you can do this later.

The next step in the wizard deals with ticket priorities. If you want to assign priorities to your support tickets, enable this feature.

ticket priorities

The setup wizard lets you know that you can configure priority levels after the initial plugin setup by going to Tickets > Priorities.

If your company has multiple departments, and you want to be able to direct support tickets to different ones upon submission, enable this next feature and click Continue.

enable department assignment

You’ll be able to configure the departments by going to Tickets > Departments when you’re done with the setup process.

The last step in the setup wizard asks you how you want to handle existing users. By default, this plugin will not allow existing users to submit tickets unless you enable them to do so here. If you don’t have any existing users on your site yet, just skip this skep and click Continue.

existing users

You’ll see a success message when the setup wizard and initial configuration is complete.

Step 3: Test a support ticket on the frontend of your site

After you finish the setup wizard, things are basically ready to go! Of course, there are small details to be handled such as your company’s departments and menu placements. But before you go to all that trouble, test a support ticket on the frontend of your site to make sure things are working.

Start by clicking Submit Ticket on the frontend of your website.

submit ticket button

Here, you can log in or register as a new user.

log in or register

Next, fill out the support ticket and click Submit ticket.

submit support ticket

After you submit your test ticket, you’ll see the status of your ticket immediately. You can also access this information by navigating to the My Tickets menu item that the plugin created for you.

support ticket status

Step 4: Reply to support ticket submissions

Now, you can go back to your WordPress dashboard and see the support ticket you just submitted. Just go to Tickets > All Tickets.

support tickets - backend

Click on the ticket you want to respond to and then enter your reply into the editor.

reply to support ticket

In addition to the original support ticket message and your reply, you’ll also see information about the ticket’s status, creator, agent, and more.

To change the status of the ticket, just select New, In Progress, or On Hold from the drop down menu labeled Current Status or choose Close when the ticket has been handled successfully.

When you close a ticket, it’s automatically removed from your All Tickets section so you can concentrate on the tickets needing your attention and nothing more. You can always filter your tickets to show the closed ones, however, just in case you need to check back on an old ticket submission or re-open it.

closed support tickets

Don’t forget, you’ll also receive support ticket email notifications so you never miss a ticket submission.

email notification

Wrapping up

And there you have it! One of the easiest ways to create a free support ticket system in WordPress using WordPress Helpdesk & Support Plugin.

Of course, there is so much more to this plugin than what we showed you. We just wanted you to get up and running with the least amount of hassle possible.

But the truth is, this plugin has a ton of potential. And with a price tag labeled “Free,” you really have nothing to lose and only happy, satisfied customers to gain.
